A container

A container, yes, a very important element when drinking beer, which helps you to drink beer for sure.

There are many kinds of container, with different shapes, different styles, different materials.

A mug, a glass, a cup, a bottle,  a bucket, a lot of different kinds of product to serve beer. Different people like different materials, but with glassware nowadays, it probably the best to serve beer.

One of the advantages of using glassware is you are able to observe the color of the beer, as well as the bubbles when it forms on the top (which we call the beer head).

The shapes of the glassware, including tulip, flute, pint, weizen, tumbler, wind goblet, jug, liqueur, thistle, etc would affect mainly 4 characteristics of the beer.

First, aroma. Just like wine, the glass with narrow mouth stores the aroma inside the glass; and the glass with wide mouth spread the aroma to your sensing organ.

Second, foam. As the foam separates oxygen from the beer, it slows down the acidification of the beer. Instead, the forming of the bubbles also is one of the important eye-catching elements of the beer.

Third, flavor. With different shape of the glass, the beer comes to different place of your tongue when you drink. And we all know different taste bud in different area of the tongue.

Last, temperature. No one likes drinking warm beer, it tastes like shit. The thickness of the glass affect the temperature of the beer by your hand and the ambient temperature.

So I bought a new glass for the beer challenge.

 What's your favourite container?
